I remembered earlier when we were talking about abortion and women's reproductive rights, we mentioned how if a women has the right to chose to have an abortion shouldn't a man have the right to have his opinion heard as well? I came across this article talking about just this; Men's abortion rights. The article talks about how, in many cases, women experience emotional and physical distress after having an abortion. New studies that have been conducted have shown men who, after their babies were aborted, also experienced distress. The article states that "anti-abortion advocates suggest "lost fatherhood" can lead to domestic violence and an addiction to sex.". It seems Ohio legislators are attempting to pass a bill that "seeks to give a man the legal right to decide whether or not the woman he impregnates should get an abortion and would make it mandatory for all women to have the written consent of "the father of the fetus" before she can go forward with the procedure". Even though many people believe that this bill will never be passed, what do you think of the possibility of this becoming a new law?

I for one do not believe that this law will ever be passed. I truly think it is the sole decision of the mother-to-be to decide whether or not she wants an abortion. I just think that if this law was passed it would cause unecessary tensions between mother and father. Also I do not think the father should decide whether or not he wants the baby aborted. To me that is just something that should not be the decision of the fathers'. To me if a woman believes that she does not wish to nor will she be able to handle carrying a child for nine months then she undoubtedly has the right to abort the child.
I definitely do not believe this law will be passed. Although I do believe that the father of the child should be allowed to have an opinion on the abortion, this should be handled in private between the two people- not legally in a court. In my opinion, it is the ultimate decision of the mother to determine whether or not she has an abortion. She will be the one carrying the child for nine months and then most likely be the one who is primarily responsible for the child. There is no guarantee that in the future the father will be around to take care of the child, therefore leading me to believe that this decision should only be up to a woman.
That is one of the dumbest laws i have ever heard of. A man has no right to decide if woman has an abortion or not. I heard that abortion is a rather painful This is really hard to believe. I would have never thought this still existed procedure, and how can a man, by law, have the right for a woman to do this. The decision clearly has to be in the hands of the woman...plain and simple.
I agree with the idea this will never pass. How would this new law work with abortion rights as we know them today? Which law would be followed, who chooses?
If this law passes, many women will resort to back alley abortions and coat hangers.
Just the introduction of this law sets feminism and reproduction rights back a few decades.
